Animal parks
The Arche Warder has created a sustainable habitat for animals, plants and people. By keeping rare breeds of domestic and farm animals, the park is a real conservation project for the preservation of agro-biodiversity.
In the five animal enclosures maintained by the state capital Kiel, a total of more than 200 animals of native and naturalised wild animal species in Schleswig-Holstein are kept and cared for by the Parks Department. In addition to the forest and park areas, this is a free experience for local recreation.
The animal park Gettorf, located in an extensive flower park, offers bird free-flight aviary and walk-in enclosures, as well as a perfect alternative in bad weather with tropical halls and walk-in animal houses.
The Schwentinental Wildlife Park houses wild and farm animals as well as a petting zoo and a playground – admission is free.

Hiking & Cycling
Along the eastern shore of Kiel Bay, past idyllic viewpoints, sandy beaches and harbours, you will find the Fördewanderweg. It starts on the east shore in Kiel-Hörn (at the Color-Line terminal, only a 10-minute walk from the hotel). From here the path runs along the Baltic Sea for about 30 kilometres to Laboe.
When your feet no longer bear you, simply return by bus, train or the Fördelinien ships.
A real highlight is a walk along the Kiellinie. Just watch the huge ships and ferries docking and casting off and enjoy the ambience.
And afterwards?
